- Who can list or buy on the Equipment Exchange?
- Registered organisations in the power and infrastructure sector: OEMs, distributors, EPC contractors, utilities, plant owners, refurbishers, auctioneers and service centres. An individual can register and browse, but listing, enquiring and making offers are done on behalf of a verified organisation. Buyers of used electrical equipment are expected to arrange their own inspection or test before purchase.
- How do I list an item, and what do I need to attach?
- Open the listing wizard, pick the listing type and category, and enter the OEM, model, rating, year, quantity and location. Choose a condition grade and attach photographs; for used or refurbished electrical equipment attach the test report and state the warranty and return terms. Add ownership evidence such as an invoice or an asset register extract. BARREL reviews the submission and publishes it with a trust label, or asks for what is missing.
- What do the trust labels mean? Does BARREL certify the equipment?
- A label says what was checked and when. Self-declared means the seller provided the information and nothing was independently checked. Documents checked means the named documents were reviewed on the stated date. Reference checked means at least one reference, such as a previous hirer or a service record, was contacted. BARREL reviewed means the listing was reviewed for completeness and the checks shown in its verification record. None of these is a certificate that the equipment works, meets a standard or is safe to energise; that comes from an inspection and test you commission or witness.
- What does it cost to list or to buy?
- Browsing public listings is free. Listing, enquiry and auction features depend on your organisation's subscription; see Plans for the current fees. Any lead or transaction support fee is stated before you accept it. BARREL does not add a margin to the seller's price.
- Who sees my serial number, exact location and documents?
- The public listing shows the category, rating, condition grade, district and sale mode. The serial number, exact site, invoices and detailed test reports stay private and are released only to an enquirer you authorise, after an NDA where you require one. Every document view is logged. BARREL holds the record and runs the checks shown on the listing; it does not own the equipment, take possession of it, hold payment or arrange freight in the first version. The contract is between buyer and seller.
